Taylor Swift won't do 'Lover' world tour because of 'intense things happening with family'

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Taylor Swift alluded to her mother's health as one of the reasons she is not doing a Lover world tour. "I’ve got some pretty intense things happening with my family right now".
Taylor Swift released her seventh studio album Lover back in August, and this time around she has opted not to do a world tour in support of the release. Taylor Swift has been known to sell out arenas in just about every city she visits. Now Taylor has hinted that her mother's health is the reason she will not be doing a world tour.

Speaking to Zane Lowe for his Beats 1 show, Taylor opened up about why she's sticking close to home, revealing that she is prioritising her family at this time.
"Change happens not only in my career but in my life," Taylor explained. "And I’ve got some pretty intense things happening with my family right now. I can’t go on long tours and not have the ability to go home if I need to. I have priorities that aren’t just touring now, and [the fans] have been really respectful of that in the past."
Taylor Swift's mum Andrea was diagnosed with cancer back in 2015. Earlier this year, in an essay she penned for Elle, she revealed that her mother was battling cancer once more.
"I’ve had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family. Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again. It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else," she wrote in the piece published back in February.
In the Beats 1 interview, Taylor also added that there are "question marks" in her life and said she knows her fans understand that she needs "breathing room" in her touring schedule.
"This is where the rubber meets the road and I actually have to make decisions,” Taylor said. "Where there are question marks in my life and things that are really important to me and my family, I have to be able to have some breathing room in my touring schedule and I think they kind of understand that."
Fans have supported Taylor's decision to forgo a huge stadium tour and are rallying around the singer.

Taylor Swift will be doing some dates, of course. She announced back in September that she has planned concerts in Europe, Brazil and the US for what she's dubbed "Lover Fest" in summer 2020. More announcements about dates in the UK and other locations are coming soon.
