The 'Blank Space' hitmaker just revealed who she will be voting for in the upcoming mid-terms...

Taylor Swift is known for many things. Ever since the 28-year-old singer-songwriter put out her debut single 'Tim McGraw' in 2006, she's been a mainstay on charts. In just 12 years, she's bagged 77 Billboard Hot 100 hits and sold millions of albums around the world. Not only that but she has also won multiple major awards, including 10 Grammys (two of which were for for Album of the Year).

However, since the beginning of her career, Taylor has been notably silent when it comes to politics. During the US election in 2016, the 'Blank Space' hitmaker stayed mute on who she was voting for and has never made public which political party she supports. That is until now. Last night (Oct 7), Taylor took to Instagram to write a long, personal post about the mid-term elections on Instagram.

In the post, Taylor touches on everything from why she hasn't spoken up about her political beliefs before to her wider views. She wrote: "I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.

She then went on to add: "I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love" and revealed that she will be voting for the Democratic candidates "Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives" in the mid-terms. She also encouraged all her fans to register to vote.

I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent. I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting! 🗳😃🌈

The reactions to Taylor's post have been overwhelmingly positive. Many people have actively critiqued her in the past for not using her platform to discuss politics so to see her listen to the critique and speak up is commendable. With Donald Trump in office, making horrific policies daily, it's more important than ever that people are politically active.

In fact, the internet is reacting so well to the news that it's already inspired numerous memes.

Some are in disbelief.

.

A lot has changed.

Is this real life?

.

Nothing makes sense anymore.

Others are laughing at how Republicans must be taking the news.

.

It's what they deserve.

This shouldn't be as funny as it is.

.

We're crying.

A few Swifties are laughing at the fact that Taylor made this announcement as soon as the US leg of her tour ended.

.

Ffsssssssss.

One or two are wondering what inspired it.

.

The power of Lady Gaga.

What if Taylor is Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born?

.

This tweet deserves a Pulitzer.

Then there are those who are calling out people who can't even admit when Taylor does something good.

.

The singer has been problematic in numerous ways before but this post is important.

Fans are even renaming Taylor.

.

This is too much.

And last but not least Taylor is getting involved with the meme action herself.

.

THE SECOND ONE!
