Say goodbye to the "spelling is fun" portion of 'ME!' Taylor Swift's lead single 'ME!' just got an update and the song's most controversial lyric was officially scrubbed.

Taylor Swift's comeback single "ME!" saw her team up with Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. The cheery pop hit was an ode to self confidence but that didn't mean some of the cornier lyrics were a hit with everyone. Now, as Taylor gears up for the release of her upcoming album Lover, one lyric from 'ME!' has been completely cut out.

Four months after Taylor Swift dropped her lead single, the lyric "hey kids, spelling is fun!" has (finally) been removed from 'ME!', as spotted by Pop Crave.

Now, there was nothing wrong with the lyric, per se. However, some fans just found it...corny. The lyric divided fans who were split on the controversial and extremely unserious line.

Here is what 'ME!' sounds like without the spelling is fun lyric.

Though the Spotify version still features the somewhat cringeworthy lyric, the Apple Music version has officially scrubbed it.

Back in April, Taylor downplayed the seriousness of the lyric during a call-in interview to Australian radio hosts Carrie and Tommy.

"I think that with this song we really just wanted to have this song not really be fully taking itself seriously," she explained. "So, the lyrics, that's a tone decision that we made in the studio. We literally were like, okay, let's say 'hey kids, spelling is fun' because we want everyone to know that this song is not really serious. It's not like a serious love song."

One place that the lyric will most likely be immortalised is in the YouTube music video for 'ME!', which currently has over 255 million views. There's no chance that will be re-uploaded because of one tiny lyric.

Taylor and her team have not revealed why the lyric has been scrubbed from the Apple Music version of the release but we're sure she'll address it when the time is right.

Meanwhile, Lover day is Friday 23 August so everyone do what you need to do to prepare yourself for this gift from Swift.

What do you guys think? Is 'ME!' better with or without the 'spelling is fun" lyric?
