The 1975's Matty Healy has called out paid meet and greets and said that artists who do them on tour are "fucking gross".
Matty Healy is no stranger to bucking artist trends. In recent years, The 1975 frontman has made headlines for stopping fans from camping outside of his shows. He also recently revealed that he turned down more money than he's ever "seen" for a chance to support Ed Sheeran on his current tour: "The thing that’s stopped me just doing that is because - I don’t care."
Now, Matty is criticising his fellow musicians for charging their fans obscene amounts of money to meet them in person.

Chatting in a new Zane Lowe interview for Apple, Matty said: "I hate paid meet and greets. You've paid for the album, you've paid for the ticket, you've paid for the parking, you get them in the room and somebody's gone, 'How do we monetise that bit?'" It's no secret that many artists nowadays offer fans a paid chance to meet them in person ahead of their shows.
Matty then went on to add: "Tell you what, if you want to do paid meet and greets, do them. I stand by it... but you take the money. If you're an artist and you do paid meet and greets, do it, cash, and you take the money off the fan. I challenge you to do that". Zane then responded: "It's fucking gross" and Matty agreed saying: "It's absolutely fucking gross".
Matty later took to Twitter to add: "payed meet and greets. bro who do think you are.. ‘Shamu’?? lol"

The 1975 are set to go on a world tour in support of their new album Being Funny In a Foreign Language early next year. As you can guess, there will be no paid meet and greets.
What do you think? Are paid meet and greets wrong?
