14. Lil Nas X's Satan Shoes: The Nike lawsuit drama explained
In March 2021, Lil Nas X released his Satan Shoes in collaboration with streetwear brand MSCHF. The modified Nike Air Max 97 trainers contained real human blood and had the Bible verse Luke 10:18 (about Satan's fall from Heaven) printed on them. Only 666 pairs were made, and they sold for $1,018 a pair. The sneakers sold out in one minute but Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the brand. The shoes had to then be recalled and buyers were refunded. [MSCHF]
