The reunions, the drama and the magic from backstage and beyond...

The Billboard Music Awards is one of the biggest events in music. From the incredible performances to the touching acceptance speeches, it never fails to entertain, move and wow us year on year.

Last night was no exception. Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato joined forces for an incredible duet, Shawn Mendes and Khalid brought us to tears with a stunning Parkland tribute and Janet Jackson reminded us why she is one of the greatest popstars of all time with a next-level medley.

However, it wasn't just the on-screen moments that impressed us. Here are 11 of the must-see moments that you may have missed during the show.

1. Normani and Camila Cabello reunited for the first time since Camila left Fifth Harmony.

Harmonizers rejoice. Less than two years since Camila left Fifth Harmony to pursue a solo career, life is finally harmonious again. Well kind of. Not only did Normani and Camila both deliver epic performances as soloists last night but they also reunited for the first time since their dramatic split and, if these photos are anything to go by, there's no longer any negativity between them. Our hearts.

2. Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato gave us all of the girl power feels.

Christina and Demi may have stolen the show on stage with their new feminist anthem 'Fall In Line' but it's these behind the scenes photos that have stolen our hearts. Christina and Demi share such similar paths. Both are former child stars with massive voices and both have taken over the pop industry and experienced its ups and downs. To see these moments of true sisterhood between a legend and a legend-in-the-making is everything. We love them.

3. Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa had a backstage moment.

The girl power keeps on coming. Ariana and Dua's adorable behind the scenes greeting may not have been as momentous as Normani and Camila reuniting or Christina and Demi collaborating but it is no less exciting to see. They are currently the Top Two most popular female artists on Spotify and with a rumoured duet called 'Bad for You' in the works, there's every chance that the girls could wow us on stage at the BBMAs next year.

4. Shawn Mendes opened up about working with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school choir.

The most powerful moment of the evening was seeing Shawn Mendes and Khalid perform their new single 'Youth' with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School show choir. With high school shootings becoming more and more frequent in the US, it shone a much needed light on the need for a change in American gun control laws. Speaking about the collaboration to Billboard backstage, Shawn said: “I was just super honored to be able to do that with them. I’ve never experienced goosebumps like that on stage before.” He then added: “We’re very, very overdue for a change.”

5. Khalid dances to Kelly Clarkson singing his own song.

We love Khalid. We love Kelly Clarkson. We love Khalid bopping to Kelly Clarkson singing a Khalid bop.

6. Social media crowns Normani the new supreme of pop.

We agree.

7. Cardi B supports Jennifer Lopez from home.

Unfortunately Cardi couldn't perform her killer verse on J.Lo's new single 'Dinero' at the BBMAs because of her pregnancy but that didn't stop her from getting involved. The star featured in a pre filmed video during the performance and tweeted about it too.

8. Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello got their lives watching Ariana Grande.

This was literally us watching Ariana from home.

9. Darren Criss joked about not being able to see Shawn Mendes because of Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello.

We've all been there. You're at a concert and you're having the best time until someone stands up in front of you and you can no longer see anything. Only usually those people don't happen to be Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello.

10. Missy Elliott praised Janet Jackon on Twitter in the sweetest way.

Get yourself a friend who rides for you as hard as Missy rides for Janet.

11. Normani met Janet Jackson.

This was Normani's night, wasn't it?
