Grimes announced she was pregnant with Elon Musk's baby in January with a cryptic Instagram post of her naked, with a foetus photoshopped on her stomach. The post was removed by the platform, before she re-uploaded a 'censored' version.

When Grimes announced her pregnancy with Tesla founder Elon Musk's baby in January, time stood still, and the whole world officially went WTF? for the first time this decade.

There was originally a lot of speculation over whether the announcement was real or just a stunt to promote her new album - but one Vogue pregnancy skincare routine and lots of baby-bump-blossoming Instagram posts later, the alt-pop musician is actually seven months along.

And now during a YouTube live stream over the weekend, the 31-year-old (real name Claire Boucher), confirmed that herself and Elon would adorably be allowing their baby to choose its own gender identity.

When asked about whether she was having a boy or a girl, she simply replied: “I don’t want to say the gender of the baby… because I feel like their privacy should be protected."

“I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public.”

She also explained: “I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life. I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known."

OUR HEARTS.

And her modern approach to parenting continued over on Twitter, when during a Q+A she also addressed the question in a now-deleted tweet, stating: “They may decide their fate and identity.”

Of course, ever since the news of the new member of the Art Angels family broke, fans have been speculating what-in-the-actual-alien will the baby be called?

She's already told followers: “I have a name for the baby, but I don’t want to say what it is because everyone I’ve told it hates it, and everyone’s gonna make fun of it.

“But it is, in fact, a genius name and people just don’t appreciate it yet because it’s too avant-garde.”

We've only got two months left to wait, but we must admit, there's been some pretty incredible speculation on names so far:

While we're sat laughing hard AF right now, Grimes has actually admitted that some of the memes going around may have already guessed some of the names she's considering, during an interview with The Face: "Annoyingly, some of the memes about my naming ideas are on point. (sigh)"

We can't wait for this one.
