HOW Many People Did It Take To Write Iggy Azalea's New Song?!?

It was a true "Team" effort, if you know what I mean.
Iggy Azalea is back at it again with her music career. The Iggy Iggz album cycle is in full gear as she prepares for the release of Digital Distortion, out later this year. Iggz released a hype track just after New Years but her official single, "Team", is probably a closer indicator of what the rest of the album will sound like.
Fans got a very well choreographed music video last week which curiously didn't star the aussie rapper. What we did receive, however, were more details concerning what it took to write "Team". Fusion's Kelsey McKinney asks why it took 12 people to write "Team".
Yup, that's right. A song about riding solo took 12 people to write.

Most notably, rappers, Juvenile and Lil' Wayne have been credited as writers on this self-centered bop (which is apparent with lines like "I took a chance like Chicago" etc).
Think of it this way. There are 11 dancers in Iggy's "Team" video. Almost as many people in her writing team.

Or think of it as a regulation football team plus one.
Now, we're not knocking Iggy's songwriting game but 12 people is her most ever amount of commissioned writers. The song isn't a featurette (which tends to drive the song writing credits way up. See: Beyonce's Drunk In Love) and the song isn't overly complex in its lyrical composition ("I feed them lemons in the lime light").
Unlike pop, which can be quite collaborative, rappers are known for having far smaller "teams" of writers. Drake, for example, had a maximum of six writers per song on If You're Reading This It's Too Late". The highest number that Kendrick had on his landmark To Pimp A Butterfly album was 9 writers on "King Kunta".
If "Team" is an indicator of what's to come, Digital Distortion is gearing up to be a very collaborative album.
