Is The Universe Trying To Get Rid Of Bono?

Bono arrives for Band Aid 30

By Jason Gregory

The answer would appear to be yes.

Bono has had a weird week.

On Sunday the U2 frontman had a bicycle collision in Central Park, apparently severely injuring his arm.

The injury requires surgery, which means that the band have been forced to pull out of a week-long residency of performing on 'The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon', which they were due to start last night.

An unfortunate coincidence? Perhaps. However, this incident also happened less than a week after the singer's potentially life-threatening flight from Dublin to Berlin, where the door of his private jet fell off mid-flight.

Bono and friends were on their way to the International Music Awards, when the rear door of the plane fell off - taking all of their luggage with it.

This string of bad luck begs the question: has the universe got it in for Bono?

U2 have been clawing back to relevancy recently, with their new album appearing in people's iTunes libraries whether they liked it or not in September. Maybe the Powers That Be got it on their laptop as well and decided to get revenge?

Well, we can only hope for Bono's safety and swift recovery. And at least he has his dignity.

Or maybe not. In another dig, his infamously patronising solo line in 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' was updated for this year's Band Aid 30 to

"Well tonight, we're reaching out and touching you".

Maybe you can blame Bob Geldof for that one.
