"I just wanted to waste away and disappear"
Little Mix have been in the news lately for their killer 'f*ck my ex' banger ,"Shout Out To My Ex". The ladies of Little Mix have been cheeky about the hidden meaning of their newest single, but Jade Thirlwall is getting serious about a very dark period in her life.
In their new book Our World, the ladies revisit their past and their career beginnings. Jade's journey details something we haven't yet heard the star talk about before at great length.
When Jade was a teenager, she was admitted to hospital for the first time due to anorexia. Her condition began when she was 13 and eventually landed her in treatment.

"I felt so depressed at the time that I just wanted to waste away and disappear," says Jade. "My periods stopped and things were getting out of control but I don't think I really cared about what was happening to me." Jade says she was triggered by bullying as well as a trauma in her family at that time.
All of this resulted in the deterioration of her mental and physical well-being until Jade was advised that, if she did not get control of her condition, she would surely die.
"They sat me down in the clinic and were quite tough at first, spelling it out, "You're destroying your body and if you keep doing this you will die."
Jade joins dozens of other famous young adults who have chosen to open up about their different struggles with mental health. Anorexia is a condition that many people, men and women, battle for years. We're definitely proud of how far Jade has come!
