Kim Jong-hyun, the lead singer of K-Pop boyband SHINee, has been found dead at the age of 27.

The Guardian reports that Kim, better known as Jonghyun, was found unconscious at his home in Seoul on Monday evening (December 18th).

The JoongAng Daily newspaper has reported that the cause of death appears to be suicide. Kim was taken to hospital after police received an emergency call from his sister who had been sent a worrying text message from the singer: "Please let me go. Tell me I did well. Final farewell."

SHINee released their debut album in 2008 and have since found great success in their homeland as well as Japan. Fans took to social media to pay tribute to the singer who had also seen a very successful solo career in recent years.
