Prince always made me feel uncomfortable and weird, and that was exactly what I needed to see and feel as a weird, uncomfortable kid.

Imagine being a skinny, awkward, black kid growing up in Minneapolis in the 80s and having Prince to let you know it's all going to be ok.

Growing up in Minneapolis, it was a rite of passage to bump into Prince. I've never felt that honored to see another human at a urinal.

My favorite Prince qualities: he was weird, confident, talented, independent, prolific, funny. What more could you want from a pop hero?

One of the best nights of my life was all star weekend in NYC when I got to watch Prince tear it down for two hours at the Jordan party

This is one of the happiest times of my life. Pissed, with some of my best friends, watching Prince in Leeds. pic.twitter.com/nIuDssTG5o
