"How can you use Asian aesthetics in your work but be a xenophobic little bitch to Asians and spread fake news on your large ass platform?"

Summer Walker has addressed the backlash surrounding her "xenophobic" comments about coronavirus. The worldwide outbreak has currently claimed the lives of 3,304 people.

It all started when the singer shared a video about the virus on Instagram. The now-deleted video showed people in China (where coronavirus originated) "spreading" the disease. However, it turned out that the footage was actually two years old. "That's some trifling nasty ass shit," she captioned her post.

Summer was then accused of being "xenophobic" in the comment section of her post. Being xenophobic can be described as having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries. Fans told Summer that the video was not related to the outbreak and she continued to defend herself.

She added: "Imao I ain't make the video or the caption, all I saw was some nasty shit period, idgaf if my mama did that shit, it's fucking nasty. I said what I said, y'all can go to hell [sic]."

Following the backlash, Summer deleted her entire Instagram page. But before she left, she shared an Instagram Story responding to the criticism. She said: "Lol people so dumb, talking about I'm racist and that video was from a long time ago. It don't matter if it was from 20 years ago, bottom line that shit nasty & IDGAF if a black white yellow or green person did that shit, it's still nasty.

"& why I ain't here about none of this 'xenophobic shit' when mf's had ebola? LOL [sic]."

She continued: "Lmao I literally don't give a fuck anymore this is app. It's not that serious. For my label Ima just delete all this shit."
