People think Kim is contributing to the climate emergency by using private planes.

Kim Kardashian has responded to the criticism of her environmentally harmful lifestyle after expressing her heartbreak over the Australian bushfires and climate change.

Australia is currently experiencing the worst bushfires it has seen in decades, CNN reports. The fires started in July 2019 and so far 24 people have died, more than 1,000 homes have been destroyed, and it has claimed the lives of 500 million animals. Firefighters are struggling to contain the blazes, even with help from volunteers and other countries.

Australia has a fire season every year, but the combination of one of its worst droughts in decades and strong winds have made the fires and toxic smoke spread more rapidly than before. Experts claim that the weather is worsening as a result of climate change.

A host of celebrities have raised awareness about the global emergency and urged their fans to donate, while also pledging money to fire services themselves. One of those celebrities included Kim Kardashian, who tweeted: "Climate change is real."

Kim also shared a series of images of the devastation caused by the fires on her Instagram Story, and her sister Kylie Jenner reposted an image of a koala, which was captioned, "Over half a BILLION animates have been killed in Australia." Kylie then added: "This breaks my heart."

Many had a problem with Kim and Kylie's hypocrisy considering they do not appear to be very eco-conscious. After sharing her heartbreak about the koalas, Kylie posted a photo of her $1,480 Louis Vuitton slippers – made from mink fur.

Meanwhile, Kim also received backlash for contributing to climate change. Kim is often seen travelling on private jets, which are notoriously not great for the environment. In 2018, Kim and her husband Kanye West rented a huge 660-seat Boeing 747 for themselves and their team to fly to Japan.

Kim was also pulled up on potentially not donating to help offset her carbon footprint. According to Bloomberg, it would take $300 billion to buy us 20 years of time to fix global warming. According to Forbes, Kim has an estimated net worth of $350 million, while Kylie is sitting on a billion dollar fortune, so it's safe to say, they could help a little.

The internet dragged Kim's hypocrisy over her recent social media posts.

Kim has now responded to the backlash on Twitter, basically saying that she does not broadcast all the donations she makes.

A Twitter user tweeted: "Nothing gets me more heated than to see the Kardashians/Jenners talk about climate change/wildfires & not donate even a penny." Kim then replied: "Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything."

Now, it's kind of understandable that people would assume that she didn't donate because Kim does publicise a lot of her life on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Recently, she even pulled up her older sister Kourtney Kardashian for not showing enough of her private life on the show. But it's true, Kim doesn't have to donate if she doesn't want to and she could very well be donating privately.
