The rappers went head to head for the number 1 album spot this past week and fans think Travis Scott referenced it after his VMAs performance.

Fans knew that Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott might have a potentially awkward run in at the 2018 MTV VMAs. After Travis Scott's Astroworld clinched the number 1 album spot over Nicki's Queen this past week, the 'Barbie Dreamz' rapper took to Twitter to air her grievances, resulting in a fairly intense tweet storm.

Ahead of the MTV VMAs, Travis and Kylie Jenner's seats were moved, likely due to all the drama, but fans are convinced that Travis threw more than a little shade at Nicki after his performance.

Travis gave fans an energetic performance during the broadcast and, afterwards, took a moment to shout his album out, emphasizing that it was "the number 1 album".

Over the weekend, Nicki tweeted about Travis, writing, "I spoke to him. He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week. I love my fans for the #1 album in AMERICA!"

Travis' emphasis on his chart position seemed to fans like he was referencing their small feud.

Of course, Travis had every right to mention his achievement and, who knows, maybe there was no shade intended.

If it was shade, however, Nicki seemed unbothered by it. The talented rapper performed at the ceremony as well and took home a VMA for best hip hop video.

Later on, she posted a video on Twitter looking perfectly at peace in transit and listening to 'Thought I Knew You' from Queen.
