One Direction vs. Nicki Minaj.

As everyone on Earth should know by now, the video for One Direction's 'Steal My Girl' premiered on October 25.

Immediately the 1D fandom went on a mission: to break Vevo's record of most views in 24 hours.

The record was previously held by Nicki Minaj's 'Anaconda' with 19.6 million.

Before Vevo could confirm it, Harry and Niall had already shared with the 1D fandom that the record had been broken.

While there's no real award or prestige to come from this achievement, the fandom still blew up with excitement and pride.

#WEBROKETHEVEVORECORD trended almost all day.

But somewhere down the line, there was a misunderstanding.

This went down about as well as you'd expect with the fandom.

Sorry Directioners, Nicki is still ruling supreme for now.

Maybe you can try again when 'Night Changes' comes out.

Looks like Nicki's still on top.
