Everything is ruined.

As the war against online streaming rages on, a new casualty of the major label streaming cull may have emerged.

Soundcloud, which has flown relatively under the radar with their free (but kind of paid) streaming model, might now face a serious setback thanks to the doubling up of Sony's efforts to monitize their artists.

In other words, a lot of your favourite artists are about to disappear from Soundcloud.

No matter how misguided and knee jerk Sony's decisions tend to be, you can always bet on them to make a decision based on how much money they can amass. This is one of those times.

Artists who have contracts with Sony include Adele, Hozier, George Ezra, Kelly Clarkson and Tinashe.

George Ezra

This is huge news for artists and artist coverage.

Soundcloud is often the first line for new, up and coming, and emerging artists so this decision certainly represents a fast changing online music model.

Thanks a lot, Sony.
