Shane Dawson apologises for making racist YouTube videos
As of June 30, Shane's Conspiracy collection in collaboration with Jeffree Star Cosmetics is no longer visible on the Morphe website.
UPDATE: (30/06 8PM GMT) Tati Westbrook claims Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star "coerced and manipulated" her in explosive new video
Last week, Shane apologised and took accountability for offensive videos he had made in the past in the name of comedy, after clips of him in blackface, saying the N-word and joking about paedophillia came to light.
As a result, Shane lost 600,000 YouTube subscribers and people started to call on brands to acknowledge his problematic behaviour. A petition calling on Morphe to stop stocking Shane and Jeffree Star – who recently apologised for his own racist past – products currently has over 12,000 signatures.
Well, it would turn out that Morphe has listened, and taken down Shane's successful Conspiracy collaboration with Jeffree Star Cosmetics. A quick search on the Morphe website for the collection, which launched in 2019, now brings zero results. Yikes…
This comes after Target confirmed they would be removing Shane's books, I Hate Myselfie: A Collection of Essays by Shane Dawson and It Gets Worse: A Collection of Essays, from their stores and online.
Shane said he was "willing to lose everything" because of his past comments and he expected the backlash that came.
In his apology video, he said: "At this point, realising how many people I've hurt or how many people I've inspired to say awful things or do anything awful, to finally just own up to all of this and be accountable is worth losing everything to me."
