Just... why?

Fashion isn't always easy for us mere mortals to understand, but Maison Margiela have definitely pushed it with this one. The internet is roasting the French fashion house for one of their interesting earring designs.

The Maison Margiela White & Gold Single Tag Earring features two yellow gold hoops and four stud earrings attached to a piece of "cardboard" embossed with the MM6 signature. But, um, it's not cardboard. It's actually made from white calfskin and is part of the earring.

You can actually remove the gold hoops and wear them as…gold hoops, but they are modelled as a single earring to be worn solely on one ear. "Single earring in white calfskin and gold-tone brass. Logo embossed at face," the description reads. "Pair of detachable hoop earrings with post-stud fastening at drop. Post-stud fastening. Approx. 4' drop."

The earring retails for $305 but you can snap them up in the sale. The price has dropped to $92 on Ssense.

Unsurprisingly, the internet is seriously confused.
