OMG.

Engagement rings have been popular for decades and their styles tend to change with the times. Whether we're talking about a "pear shaped diamond with a gold band" or something a little less Aiden from Sex and The City, engagement ring trends are always evolving.

That's why you definitely will not be surprised when I break the news that dermal engagement piercings are rising in popularity.

Fans of body piercings and other modifications are opting for different ways to express their commitment.

Dermal piercings may seem like the way to go for some, given that wedding tattoos have been a nice alternative to jewelry for a while now. See: Dax Shepard's adorable bell tattoo to honour wife, Kristen Bell.

Still, there is a lot to know about the dermal piercing engagement trend. Most notably that your body may reject it over time. If the piercing is placed too deep, there is the risk that your skin may grow over it, as well.

Still, the stunning trend is definitely an interesting option...IF you can stand the pain.

And, yes, people do say it's painful.

What do you guys think of this non-traditional engagement piercing trend? Shall we pencil in an appointment for you or are you giving this one a hard pass?
