Band Aid is back and this time it has YouTubers.

Over the weekend, charity supergroup Band Aid 30 came together to record this year's single and video.


We've already provided a breakdown of the star-studded lineup of musicians performing on the track, but there were a few extra faces you may recognise that might seem a little out of place.


YouTubers Zoella, Alfie Deyes and Joe Sugg all made an appearance at the recording of this year's rendition of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'.

In the off-chance you've never heard of them, here's a breakdown of who they are, what they do, and why they were involved in Band Aid 30.

Zoe is a beauty and fashion guru; arguably THE beauty and fashion guru. With over 6.5 million subscribers on YouTube, her own range of beauty products, ads for her channel playing constantly in Westfield Shopping Mall and an upcoming book deal with Penguin, the 24 year-old has created her own lifestyle empire.


Alfie is the boyfriend of Zoe, and a YouTuber in his own right. Known best for challenges, tag videos and his daily vlog, Alfie has 3 million subscribers and recently released his own book, 'The Pointless Book'.


Joe, Zoe's brother, is a roof thatcher by day, and YouTuber by... other days. He has a channel of very similar style and magnitude to Alfie, as well as a daily vlog of his own. 



Well, no-one's actually sure why exactly they were in Band Aid 30. None of the three YouTubers are musicians by trade (which might be why they were just involved in the group vocals), and there has been a lot of discussion about whether or not it was really a good move.




Regardless of whether it was a new step into recognising digital creators as a respectable medium, or just a last-minute grab to appeal to a young audience, there's no denying it was a smart move for Band Aid leaders Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to take; this year's single raised over £1 million pound in pre-orders within the first five minutes.
