In case you ever wanted to try your hand at being a music producer who specialises in sampling music.
Being a producer is not as easy as it seems. We know this because we're not producers and we can just tell, you know?
In case you ever wanted to try your hand at being a music producer who specialises in sampling music, Matt Daniel's samplestitch website is a cool way of experimenting.
I’ve been re-constructing hip hop songs from their original samples, and every time I’ve been fascinated by the producer’s choices. Before we take a look at each sample, you might have noticed how weird it is to compose with milliseconds of a song. Producers are studying these moments for hours. They understand the minutia – the exact note at the exact millisecond that creates an interesting beat.Matt Daniels
Matt takes the examples of J.Dilla "Don't Cry", 9th Wonder "Impressknowsoul" and, Kanye West "Otis" and makes them accessible for players to try their hand at.
Users are given a "soundboard" where they can deconstruct the elements of each sample and can even view how the producers took each song and put their personal stamp on it.
