This would have been major...
It's no secret that Crazy Rich Asians is set to be one of the biggest films of the year. It may have only just come out in the US but it's already received universal critical acclaim form the general public and critics alike. Not only that but it's also on track to become a major blockbuster success. The historic rom-com (it's the first Hollywood film led by an Asian-American cast since 1993) is a huge deal.

To top it all off, fans are praising the performances by the stars behind its two main characters: Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat) and Henry Golding (The Travel Show). However, the film could have turned out quite differently. Before Henry landed the role of Nick Young another famous actor was in the running to play the part. The one and only Ross Butler could have been Nick.
Speaking to Vulture, Ross revealed that he actually auditioned for the role of Nick. Discussing the auditioning process, he said: "Yeah, but I think I was just too young. I mean, I was still playing a teenager so I can’t be a professor at a college. I don’t think I was anywhere close [to being cast] because I was still playing a 16-year-old! But I figured I’d read for it anyway and see what happens."
The 13 Reasons Why star actually attended the Crazy Rich Asians premiere and took to Instagram to praise it: "Just watched #CrazyRichAsians last night and I am so filled with pride. Finally a movie that made me feel badass, funny, and sophisticated while staying true to Asian culture. Even if you aren't Asian, you will find yourself in these characters. SEE. THIS. MOVIE. SEE. THIS. MOVIE."

What a king. Even though we're sad that Ross didn't end up being in the film, it makes sense that they cast someone who doesn't usually play teen parts. Not to mention, Henry is perfect for the role and it's so great to see Ross support it from afar. We cannot wait to see what both actors do next.
