The out lesbian character could be played by a gay actress on the upcoming project.
The CW is on the hunt for a lead to topline its upcoming Batwoman series and one of the reported criteria for the role has the internet seriously excited.
According to TVLine, a source has revealed that the project is "seeking an out lesbian actress, open ethnicity, to play age 25 to 29." This has not been publicly confirmed by the network itself.
The actress would play Kate Kane who is described as a woman “armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind. Kate Kane is also a Jewish woman.
We've seen gay and bisexual superhero characters on the CW in recent years. Most recently, fans we're thrilled to see a black lesbian superhero named Anissa Pierce on the CW's 'Black Lightning'.
Intentionally casting a lesbian actress would be huge and the internet's reaction makes it clear that audiences are VERY much into the idea.
