Who is Ambrose Spellman on 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'?

Ambrose Spellman, played by British actor Chance Perdomo has stolen the hearts of viewers in 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' - and has also caused a LOT of thirst. But who is Ambrose? Why is he cursed? And HOW is he related to Sabrina?

Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has finally dropped and it is everything we ever dreamed it would be. From the terrifying jump scares, Riverdale crossovers and the sinister AF ending, fans are obsessed with every aspect of the show - including the actor who plays Sabrina's cousin Ambrose Spellman, Chance Perdomo.

Ambrose is a warlock who is skilled in necromancy (he can communicate with the dead). He has been trapped in the Spellman Mortuary for 75 years due to a binding spell and cannot leave the grounds of the house. He's Sabrina's partner in crime, he's witty, he's iconic and he's a damn legend.

Chance is so perfect in the role of Ambrose, fans are already claiming him as their favourite character and some are even starting to campaign for an entire spin off of his character's mysterious history. And also - everyone is thirsting over him.

Who plays Ambrose Spellman?

Ambrose is played by 22-year-old British actor Chance Perdomo. And yes, that's his real accent. Chance has previously starred in UK shows like ‘Midsummer Murders’ and ‘Killed By My Debt’. He also featured on CBBC’s ‘Hetty Feather’ and has performed in a number of theatre productions. ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ is the first time he’s actually worked on a US TV show.

Chance also auditioned for Riverdale and although he didn't get a role on the show, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was so impressed with Chance’s audition that he kept in mind when he was writing Ambrose for ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.

How is Ambrose related to Sabrina?

Ambrose is Sabrina's 'cousin', but it's never really established how he is related to her. In the comics, Ambrose comes to live with Zelda and Hilda after removing a student's hands at his boarding school in England. In the show, it's revealed that Ambrose has been under house arrest for 75 years. Given that we only know about three Spellman siblings (Zelda and Hilda who have no children and Edward who is Sabrina's father), he could just simply be a distant cousin with the family name. He is like, 91 years old, after all...

Is Ambrose Spellman pansexual?

Yes - he is! Pansexual, in case you aren't aware, means that you are "not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity." While his character was described as pansexual in the character description, the show doesn't bring it up and treats Ambrose's relationships normally, as they would with any other character.

Ambrose - and Chance himself - have made such a huge impact of the show's audience, fans are now stanning and thirsting over him.

A spin-off featuring Ambrose? What book do we have to sign for this?

In case you don't already know, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has already been given the go ahead for a second season and you'll be pleased to know that Chance will be back as Ambrose. (In fact, they're shooting season two right now!)

But what's ahead for Ambrose? At the end of season one, Ambrose joins the Academy of Unseen Arts as a form of community service and is working with Father Blackwood toward having his curse lifted. While things were going well for him, it was revealed in the final episode that Aunt Zelda stole one of Blackwood's children which, if Blackwood finds out, could have huge repercussions for Ambrose's curse. Ugh, he was doing so well!

Season 2 can honestly not arrive quickly enough.
