'Jane The Virgin' season 5 is on its way. The popular CW show had audiences on the edge of their seats with that HUGE season 4 twist so what can fans expect in season 5? When does the show return? And, what theories have fans cooked up for what is likely to be the show's final season?

One of The CW's most beloved shows, Jane The Virgin, ended its fourth season with an unbelievable twist that is sure to set up an incredible fifth and final season. Fans were left with their jaws on the ground after the show managed to perfectly execute one of the biggest soap opera tropes ever with a character returning from the dead that literally no one saw coming. (Still not over it.)

It's already been confirmed that season 5 of Jane will be the final season. Teased by Gina Rodriguez and then later confirmed by executive producer Brad Silberling, the show will end after 100 episodes. “We’ve always known when it was going to end. It will be 100 episodes when it’s done and 100 is exactly where Jennie always hoped it could end the story. So it’s perfect."

Even though fans are sad to say goodbye to their beloved show, the Jane writers and producers cooked up a brilliant twist that will surely set up season 5 as one of the best seasons of the series. So, what's in store for the Villanueva women and what are fans theorising about THAT shock ending? When does Jane The Virgin season 5 premiere?

Unlike Jane The Virgin's previous 4 seasons, which all debuted toward the middle of October, season 5 is likely eyeing a early 2019 date.

The CW announced its Fall line up and Jane The Virgin was conspicuously absent from the Autumn roster. While some fans suspected that the show would return in January 2019, it's now looking more like March 2019. In November, The CW announced that the show will return on Wednesdays once All American wraps but gave no official premiere date.

Is season 5 the last season of Jane The Virgin?

Season 5 will be the last season of Jane The Virgin.

In April 2018, Jane executive producer Brad Silberling addressed the show's close saying, "Yes, we are heading into the final season. It is a wonderful final season of the show…this will only make real sense when you have seen the content of the fifth season of the show. It is exactly as it was laid out."

How many episodes are in Jane The Virgin season 5?

The show will end on its 100th episode, meaning that season 5 will have 19 episodes.

Is Michael actually alive on Jane The Virgin? The internet has MANY theories...

Well, folks you saw it will your eyes. Michael Cordero is alive (???) and seemingly well (???) if the end of season 4 is to be believed. So, is it true or is the narrator playing tricks on us once more?

A quick scroll through the r/JaneTheVirginCW subreddit will convince you that anything is possible with Michael's miraculous resurrection. Everything from a twin, to Michael having amnesia, and even a faked death courtesy of Sin Rostro has been theorised. We don't know if Michael is truly alive in Jane The Virgin season 5 and we won't know until Jane The Virgin returns in 2019.

Will the narrator be revealed in season 5? - Who is the Jane The Virgin narrator?

Anthony Mendez is the voice actor who plays our Latin Lover but who in Jane's life has been telling her story since season 1? Well, the theories on this are never ending.

On the less believable end of the spectrum is the theory that Xo has been narrating. Other suspects include Mateo Sr. (Jane's grandfather) Matteo Jr. (Jane's son), Rogelio, and Jane, herself.

One thing is certain. With Jane The Virgin drawing to a close, the likelihood that fans will meet the narrator is very high. We just might have to rewatch the entire show to pick up on some clues.

Gina Rodriguez will likely be directing some episodes in season 5.

Earlier this year, the show's star Gina Rodriguez that she was looking forward to directing again in season 5. In March 2018, Gina described directing as "the most incredible experience" and expressed a desire to do more directing in show's "final season".
