Dr Smith is played by Parker Posey, an American actress who had her first success with the Richard Linklater film Dazed and Confused in 1993. Nicknamed “Queen of the Indies”, since then she’s appeared in a ton of exciting independent films like The Doom Generation, classics like You’ve Got Mail, and loads of TV shows including Will & Grace, Parks and Recreation, Louie, and Search Party. In the original series, Dr Smith was actually a male character!
