Will "Suicide Squad" Kill The Dark Superhero Movie?

Time for fun!
The latest glimpse at upcoming bad-guys-as-superheroes epic Suicide Squad dropped this week and, we must say, unlike its comic con preview, all dimly lit and wistfully soundtracked, it looks like a huge amount of fun.
Outrageous.
In fact, it looks a great deal more fun than the other upcoming DC offering Batman Vs Superman which, so far, has projected the image that it, perhaps, takes itself a little too seriously.
Make that very seriously.

Heavy rain = seriousness.
Back in 2008, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight set the standard for the modern superhero movie - a real-world crime epic, entrenched in gritty dialogue and violent outbursts, all delivered with a sense of gravitas never before seen in a comic book style.

But there is only one Christopher Nolan and later attempts at this more "serious" take on the genre were generally met with a collective "meh" at the box office.
Thankfully, Marvel brought back the fun style with the wise-cracking antics of Tony Stark and co. But even they haven't attempted something quite as day-glo and mad as Suicide Squad, its technicolour blur rattling along at a machine gun pace to the equally bombastic music of Queen.

Alongside the soon-to-be-released Deadpool, Suicide Squad is pushing the boundaries of the "fun" superhero movie, less concerned with saving the world or moral righteousness and more into batsh*t crazy, destructive stunts and quick-fire gags.
And isn't that what we really want in a superhero movie? Every glimpse at Batman Vs Superman seems to only further emphasise the poe-faced, "look at how important we are" vibes that have killed so many TDK rip offs in the past. Maybe we're wrong and it will turn out to be a Bat-fleck battering bundle of joy.
But will it have these kind of tabletop dance moves?
