April Kepner is in SEVERE danger in the promo trailer for the penultimate episode of the season - and it doesn't look good AT ALL.

Whenever an announcement is made about an actor leaving Grey's Anatomy, the fandom immediately assumes the worse - which is exactly what happened when it was revealed that Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw, who play Dr. April Kepner and Dr. Arizona Robbins respectively, would be leaving the show at the end of season 14.

And now, thanks to the brand new promo trailer for the penultimate episode of the season, everyone is losing it because it actually looks like one of them is going to die. Yep. Just as we all suspected, April ends up on the operating table in grave danger with a distraught Jackson standing over her while a machine flat-lines behind him.

But does she actually die? Are we actually going to have to deal with the death of another fan-favourite character?

The past few episodes have been hinting at the ways in which April and Arizona will depart Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital but things might not be what they seem when it comes to April's departure. This is Grey's Anatomy after all. Just like when fans were tricked into thinking Dr. Bailey was gonna kick the bucket half way through the season based on a terrifying promo trailer, this episode teaser could just be big ol' dramatic decoy.

Speaking to ET Online, Ellen Pompeo revealed that their exits won't actually be tragic at all.

"You only get killed off when your behaviour is bad. If you're a nice actor, you die nice," Pompeo said when comparing Capshaw and Drew's exits to that of Sandra Oh. "[She] left in the most amazing way. She gave everybody so much notice. She knew 10 seasons was all she wanted to do and they don't get much classier than Sandra Oh. But yeah, these endings aren't tragic."

So, we know that Robbins and Kepner's departures aren't tragic, but Ellen didn't actually say whether they leave the show with their lives in tact either... We give you permission to start panicking now.

We do know - however - that Sarah Drew is part of the finale episode after having posted a picture from the table read and some BTS shots of herself with fellow cast members at what looks like Jo and Alex's wedding (which will be happening in the final episode.) So we're guessing she either makes it out of that OR and lives to fight another day away somewhere far far away from Seattle Grace Mercy Death, or she's a ghost - which isn't unheard of on Grey's at all.

In other news, it sounds like details of Arizona's exit will all come down to one very important choice. Will she move to New York with Sofia so her daughter can live happily with both of her parents? Or will she take Dr. Herman (Geena Davis is back back back again) up on her whatever she's offering?

Episode 23, titled "Cold As Ice" will air at 8/7c on ABC on May 10th... and it's sure to be a dramatic one. We'll bring the tequila, you bring the tissues.
