Disney have just revealed the plot of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4 and it's added to the rumours.

Wild Cats, let's go! Disney+ have just unveiled the main plot of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4 and it sounds like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens could be involved in it. Is a High School Musical reunion actually happening?

On Saturday (Sep 10), Disney+ revealed some important news about HSMTMTS season 4 at the D23 Expo. Taking it back to the original, the musical that the students of East High will perform in season 4 is High School Musical 3: Senior Year. In other words, songs like 'I Want It All' and 'Scream' could feature in it.

And, if that weren't iconic enough, our East High faves will also find out on their first day back at school that the actual High School Musical cast will be filming a High School Musical 4: The Reunion movie at East High. To top it all off, Ricky, Gina, Ashlyn, Kourtney and the rest of the cast will get to play extras in High School Musical 4.

Fans are now speculating that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will be in season 4 and there's some convincing evidence.

Given that the plot of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4 will revolve around a new High School Musical movie being filmed at East High, it seems likely that many of the original HSM cast will appear in it. Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel have already guest-starred on the show as themselves, so it would make sense for Zac and Vanessa to join in.

And if you think that's unlikely, Zac and Vanessa both recently broke the internet after posting photos and videos of them at the school were High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is filmed on Instagram. Now that we know what the plot of HSMTMTS season 4 is, it seems like Zac and Vanessa could have both returned to East High to film HSMTMTS.

Zac also recently let slip that he would love to be part of a High School Musical reboot. Without hesitating, he told E! News: "Seriously, having the opportunity, in any form, to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart's still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens." What if he already knew about HSMTMTS season 4?

Reacting to the news one fan tweeted: "Zac and Vanessa posing in front of East high, Kenny Ortega knowing Joshua Bassett, and now season 4 of hsmtmts is happening with the plot of them being extras in the HSM4 reunion movie? yeaaaaa…this truly about to be the best thing to ever grace disney plus [sic]".

Another added: "No wayyy could this be why Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron had been seen at East High in recent months?"

If Zac and Vanessa are actually appearing in HSMTMTS season 4, does this mean that Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the original cast could also be involved? Also could High School Musical 4: The Reunion actually be happening as well? We need answers and we need them now!
