How to Get Away with Murder season 6 is back and Annalise Keating is dead... or is she? And, if she is, who murdered her?

Ever since the first episode of How to Get Away with Murder season 6 aired last September, viewers have been desperate to find out who killed Annalise. The mystery left fans in a state of shock and confusion and we've been racking our brains as to who is responsible ever since. Michaela? Connor? Laurel? Oliver? Frank? Bonnie? Nate? Gabriel? Tegan? Could it even be Wes?

Every episode has dropped huge clues as to whether or not Annalise is really dead and who the culprit is. Here's what we know so far.

The season 6 premiere ends with a flash-forward showing Annalise's funeral. Talking about it with Variety, showrunner Peter Nowalk teased: "I wanted to give everyone, especially Annalise, an ending that felt big. For me the mystery of this premiere, which is Who killed Annalise? was something I wanted to do forever, but obviously you can only do it in the last season."

Since then the series has made it look as though numerous characters could have killed Annalise. There have been scenes with Michaela and Connor both being interrogated by police, police saying that Michaela's fingerprints were on the murder weapon and Oliver literally saying: "I'm the murderer". They all have motives to kill Annalise but did any of them do it?

Is Annalise actually dead? Did she fake her own death?

Well, it looks like Annalise might not even be dead. The mid-season finale reveals that Asher has been murdered and all of those suspicious police interrogation scenes were in reference to his murder, not Annalise's. Not only that but we find out that Annalise is planning to fake her death and disappear as the FBI is hellbent on imprisoning her for Sam's murder.

Of course, with Asher now dead, Annalise's plans to run away will likely be put on hold. Beyond that, it's possible that she'll still end up being killed. Michaela is still angry about Annalise not telling her about her birth father, Connor and Oliver would have avoided being criminals if they never met Annalise and Xavier Castillo is still on the loose and dangerous.

Our bet is that Annalise will help make sure that Connor, Michaela and Oliver are not put in prison for Asher's murder, whether they did it or not. They will then help her successfully fake her own death and host her funeral so that she doesn't go to jail for Sam's death, if and when the FBI has enough evidence to put her behind bars.

That being said, there's still the big episode 9 cliffhanger we have to deal with. The mid-season finale ended with Wes alive and addressing the congregation at Annalise's funeral after he allegedly died in Annalise's burning house in season 4. We imagine that whether or not Annalise is dead will have something to do with him.

There's also a theory that Annalise's funeral is many years in the future and Alfred Enoch is playing an older version of Wes and Laurel's son. If so, Wes wouldn't be alive and Annalise could have died of natural causes. As this is How to Get Away with Murder, anything is possible.

What do you think? Is Annalise dead? Who killed her?
