This would be Hailee's first project with Netflix...

Hailee Steinfeld is lowkey a living legend. The award winning actress and popstar may only be 21-years-old but in her career to date she has already bagged herself an Oscar nomination (True Grit is a classic) and released some of the most streamed singles of all time ('Starving' has over 670 million streams on Spotify alone). And now it looks like the 'Let Me Go' hitmaker has set her sights on Netflix.

Yes. It's true. We may actually be getting a brand new Netflix feature film starring Hailee. According to Deadline "Netflix and Matt Reeves’ company 6th & Idaho are in advanced talks to make the music-themed feature film Idol." Not only that but "Hailee Steinfeld is attached to star and produce." If true this will be Hailee's first project with Netflix.

What is Idol about though?

The film is being touted as a cross between Devil Wears Prada and All About Eve. There's one big difference though. Instead of being set in the worlds of fashion and theatre, Idol takes place in the pop universe. "The story revolves around a girl who becomes an assistant for an iconic-type singer and then tries to become her, as in morph into her." OMG, we're getting A Simple Favour vibes.

If Hailee officially signs onto the project she will play the assistant turned popstar. Considering how talented Hailee is both at acting and singing, we couldn't think of a better person to take on the role. The 'Most Girls' singer is rumoured to be heavily involved in the soundtrack too which means that we are about to be blessed with an incredible film and bops and bangers. What a blessing.

As it stands an actress is yet to be linked to the role of the star who Hailee's character attempts to be. We reckon someone like Leighton Meester (watch Country Strong now) or Anna Kendrick (a Pitch Perfect reunion would be cute) could take on the role. However, something tells us that Netflix could go left field and surprise us.

We would like to take this opportunity to say that Katherine McPhee would be perfect. Smash fans can I get an amen?

What do you think? Who will star opposite Hailee?
