The distribution rights were secured in an ITV Global Entertainment deal. In the ITV press release about the deal, it was revealed that Netflix had "picked up the series at script stage".

Netflix is likely hoping that audiences outside of the UK & Ireland are as enthusiastic about the drama as BBC audiences were. So, when and what can international viewers expect from Bodyguard on Netflix?

When does Bodyguard premiere on Netflix?

Netflix will premiere Bodyguard on its platform on October 24, a full month after the series finale airs on BBC One.

Bodyguard is about a war veteran, David Budd, (played by Richard Madden, Game of Thrones) who is assigned to the security detail of fictional Home Secretary, Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes, Line of Duty).

The tense drama details an insidious terror plot, and follows the actions of the heroic but traumatised war veteran. The series twists and turns in a way that has clearly captivated UK audiences. The series one finale will air on Sunday, September 23.

Bodyguard is told in six parts, each episode ranging 56-75 minutes in length.
