Netflix's 'The Princess Switch' has already inspired the funniest memes

Fans can't get enough the Vanessa Hudgens, Sam Pallido and Nick Sagar starring film...
Netflix has really come through on the film front this year. Alongside critically acclaimed new series like Elite and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the video streaming platform has also blessed fans with a selection of hit movies. There was The Kissing Booth earlier this year, then there was To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. Now things are getting all kinds of Christmassy.
On Friday, Netflix debuted their new holiday classic The Princess Switch and it is wild. The film stars Vanessa Hudgens, who plays the lead roles of Stacey DeNovo, a baker from Chicago, and Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro. After the two of them bump into each other, and realise they look exactly the same, they switch lives briefly and chaos ensues. Naturally, the film is already being meme-d.
SPOILERS BELOW. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Viewers can't get enough of the romance (the internet is swooning over both romantic leads), the madness (basically nothing makes logical sense in it) and the adorable side characters (give Alexa Adeosun all of the awards). Set in the fictional country of Belgravia, where royal baking competitions are a thing and snow is everywhere, it is exactly the sort of heartwarming film that makes Christmas so great.
Is it filled with plot-holes? Yes. Who even is that mystery man who followed Stacy from Chicago and how could a cut electric mixer wire go unnoticed in a professional baking competition? Is it the kind of film that you can put on at any given moment and in any given mood though? Yes. Unsurprisingly, the memes are as hilarious and great as the film itself. Here are just a few of the best ones so far.
Predictable films are sometimes the best films.
me watching the princess switch knowing damn well what’s going to happen but liking it anyway. it was so cute. edward and stacy? a ship. pic.twitter.com/mLo4F8fZW8— siana (@lilysheridans) November 17, 2018
Edward and Stacy are cute and all but in this house we ship Margaret and Kevin.
Mind you, why did Edward and Margaret have no security?
my fave thing about the princess switch is the lack of security detail for an actual royal couple— Bim Adewunmi (@bimadew) November 18, 2018
We assume that Belgravia is just filled with lovely people who would never harm a monarch to be.
Everyone is living for THAT scene.
Margaret really won at life.
How did all of this happen in just three days though?

Love at first site etc. etc. If you've not been to Belgravia, you probably wouldn't understand. We haven't been to Belgravia but we feel like we have now.
The film is very heteronormative and that is okay sometimes.

We were swept away by the romance too tbh.
Plus there were potentially some LGBTQ+ characters.

Netflix! Give us the spin-off now you cowards.
Hold up though? Did Margaret and Kevin really watch a Netflix Christmas film in a Netflix Christmas film?
NETFLIX REALLY DID PLUG A CHRISTMAS PRINCE INTO THE PRINCESS SWITCH I CANNOT BELIEVE— tired pirate queen (@sirensturf) November 16, 2018
We were going to say something shady but this is actually a remarkable business idea. We stan how sneaky this is.
The movie has everyone searching very specific things on Google now.

Well, what? Maybe we could enter a royal baking competition and become a princess too?
Also did you spot the probably accidental High School Musical homage.
This Vanessa Hudgens Netflix Christmas movie “The Princess Switch” scene reminds me of that scene in high school musical where Troy gives Gabriella the “t” necklace. LOL pic.twitter.com/xtTaXCy4Fu— Deirdre☽ (@deirdreneider) November 17, 2018
Two great love stories.
Essentially, this film is a work of art...
Can confirm the new Vanessa Hudgens Netflix Christmas movie “The Princess Switch” is a cheesy, grown-up, Parent Trap style masterpiece and it is amazing pic.twitter.com/oEabKnlWql— Brittany McGourlay (@britmcgourlay) November 16, 2018
With elements of Monte Carlo.
...and Vanessa Hudgens deserves awards.
I’m just saying if Daniel Day Lewis could ever pull off doing two different accents and mastering two walks in the same movie, the Oscar buzz would be deafening. pic.twitter.com/DiabyrFuF8— Chris Hanna (@Chris_Hanna) November 19, 2018
And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to...
