Netflix's foray into unscripted television has resulted in some of the most entertaining and compelling shows on the platform. From Queer Eye to Nailed It! and My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, Netflix is going all in on structured reality programming.

If you're a fan of this new direction and have a soft spot for Glee, Netflix's latest reality show is going to blow you away. Westside is an eight episode docuseries coming to the platform and it sounds kind of iconic.

Reporting from Vulture gives more insight into Netflix's Jenn Levy's view of the new series.

“It tells the story of nine aspiring musicians living in Los Angeles, working together, hanging out together. There’s character development and plotlines you find in some of our best scripted series. But it’s all done in a really raw and authentic way.”

“The hook is, they also break into song,” according to Levy. “Think The Hills meets La La Land or Glee with a whole lot more edge.”

Guys, they break into song! Glee style!

Okay, so it's definitely different. It will be hard to tell how the incorporation of musical performances will mesh with the "reality" aspect of the show until we watch, but Westside is one to keep an eye out for.

La La Land did tell a compelling story in this way and very nearly won Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Those with a Hills sized hole in their hearts will love that the characters are following their dreams in LA. Just IMAGINE if Spencer Pratt could sing and dance while Lauren Conrad belted out a Dreamgirls style performance of "I wanna forgive you and I want to forget you." Iconic.

No date has been announced for Westside, but anyone will tell you that the turnaround for reality television is pretty quick. Could we have this singing extravaganza on our screens by the end of the year?

What do you guys think? Will you be tuning in to Netflix's Westside when it drops?
