All the latest information on the Murder House/Coven crossover season including the cast, theme, theories and trailers.

Have we all recovered from AHS: Cult? Great! TIME FOR THE NEXT NIGHTMARE! In case you didn't know, American Horror Story has already been renewed for seasons 8 AND 9. Season 8, which is currently untitled, will air in 2018 and season 9 will follow in 2019. It has now been as good as confirmed that season 9 of American Horror Story WILL be the long-awaited Murder House/Coven crossover.

Here's everything we know about the season so far:

What is the theme for American Horror Story season 9?

It's "likely" to be the Murder House/Coven crossover season, which means it's definitely the Murder House/Coven season.

When is American Horror Story season 9 released?

AHS 9, aka the Murder House/Coven crossover season will be released in 2019. It's likely that the season will premiere around the same time as the other seasons which is in either September or October.

Which cast members will return for American Horror Story Season 9?

Well, seeing as Cordelia Foxx is the Supreme and Headmistress of Miss Robichaux's Academy, Sarah Paulson is a requirement for this season. Zoe Benson and Kyle Spencer are also still alive so Taissa Farmiga and Evan Peters are a strong possibility.

Murphy is optimistic that many of the original AHS stars will come back for the crossover season, including Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton and... yes, JESSICA LANGE (!!!!)

“I want all of them,” he said. “I want Dylan, and Connie and Jessica [Lange]. They’ve all said — Kathy Bates, too — everybody who is involved in the show has always said, ‘Yeah, that sounds like fun, let’s get the band back together again.’ So that is one of the reasons why the writing process of that season is taking longer because it’s literally 25 people’s schedules. But I’m hopeful they will all be back.”

Lady Gaga could possibly make an appearance as the original Supreme Scathach but her two-year Vegas residency might prevent her from being available for filming.

What’s going to happen in American Horror Story Season 9?

Murphy confirmed the crossover season before Cult was even announced in 2016. At the time, he said: "It's a character from Season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy," he revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

As we left it, there were only three characters left alive at the end of Murder House; Sarah Paulson's Billie Dean Howard, the devil-spawn of Vivian Harmon and Tate Langdon, Michael and of course, the iconic Constance Langdon. When Coven ended, we saw Cordelia as the new Supreme with literally almost everyone else dead... but remember, witches have the power to resurrect so literally anyone and everyone could return.

There's also the possibility of a wider backstory around the origins of the Supreme status thanks to Lady Gaga's Roanoke character Scathach.

Have they started filming American Horror Story season 9 yet?

Not yet! Filming will likely take place in the summer of 2019, as the show maintains a much smaller window between the filming of an episode and the airing of one to avoid leaks or spoilers.

Is there an American Horror Story season 9 trailer?

Not yet but as soon as there is one, we'll let you know!
