Katherine Langford was slated to play a huge character in "Avengers: Endgame" and fans wondered why she wasn't in the final version of the film. Now the Russo brothers have revealed why her role as teen Morgan Stark was cut from "Avengers: Endgame".
Who was Katherine Langford's Avengers: Endgame character?
After months of speculation about the nature of Katherine Langford's role in Avengers: Endgame, many viewers were shocked to find out that the 13 Reasons Why star was nowhere to be found in the film. Now, her cut scene has been revealed by the Russo brothers, who recently explained why the actress was missing from Avengers: Endgame despite being confirmed for a role in the film.
In a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Katherine Langford actually played a pretty monumental character in the film. The Australian actress had a role as the older version of Morgan, Tony Stark's daughter.
On the podcast, Joe and Anthony broke down their decision to cast and eventually cut the character out of the film.
“There was an idea that we had that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes in when he snapped his fingers. And that there was going to be a future version of his daughter in that way station.”
"We showed it to a test audience and it was really confusing for them."
"We didn't feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. It wasn't resonating with us on an emotional level."
“The intention was that his future daughter, because these films are dealing with magic, his future daughter forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie.”
With a film that lasts for three hours, we're not surprised that certain scenes needed to be cut for time and to minimise convoluted storylines. I mean, once time travel gets involved, you're bound to get into the weeds.
Last week, Katherine Langford reacted to her part being cut out of the movie with a cryptic Instagram Stories reply.

We're guessing a ton of great performances got left on the cutting room floor simply because of time constraints. Here's to hoping there's an extended director's cut floating around out there.
