Oh, HELL no.

If you're reading this, we're going to go ahead and assume you've finished all of Stranger Things 2.

The whole season was captivating, but the last two episodes were definitely an emotional roller coaster. Bob Newby's episode 8 death hit us ESPECIALLY hard. But, what if I told you that Bob Newby (played by Sean Astin) wasn't originally supposed to even make it to episode 8?

One of the show's creators, Ross Duffer, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Bob Newby's death was supposed to come way earlier in the season.

"Bob was always intended to die, but we fell in love with Sean and what he was doing with this character," Ross said.

"He was supposed to die in like episode 4 and we just kept keeping him alive because he was so great and what he added to the show. Once we got to 8, we were like, we either got to do this or not do this. But I think it was important in terms of the stakes of the show. This is not a kids show and there are consequences and people do die. But we are sad to lose him because he really just blew us away."

It seems that not even the Duffer brothers were immune to Bob Newby's charms.

On the Beyond Stranger Things recap show, director Shawn Levy delved further into this, revealing to the panel that WILL was originally going to be Bob's murderer.

"In an early outline Evil Will was gonna kill Bob," director Shawn Levy divulged. The mind flare was supposed to take over in the car scene where Bob gives Will advice on facing his fears.

Thankfully, the tension was allowed to build in a more organic way. We can't imagine the big reveal about Will taking place THAT EARLY in the season.

An early death for Bob would have changed EVERYTHING.

The escape from Hawkins Lab is, arguably, one of the most pivotal scenes in season 2. It changed the pace and set up the final episode perfectly.

Bob's heroic actions were also a bittersweet moment for the audience. He helped the show's central characters escape the facility but lost his life in the process. Without that scene, the stakes definitely would not have been high enough. There's no doubt that fans had to go into episode 9 reeling from this emotional death.

We're still shook, though.
