Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson reveal that they both ship Captain Marvel and Valkyrie..
Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson have stoked rumours that Captain Marvel is gay and falls in love with Valkyrie.
Long before Captain Marvel even came out, MCU fans have speculated that Carol Danvers may be lesbian or sit somewhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. She is straight in the comic books but, many of the comic variations of Captain Marvel are queer, and it's not unheard of for Marvel to change things up on screen. Not only that but there are theories that Captain Marvel falls in love with Valkyrie. And now Brie and Tessa have low-key alluded to it.
Is Captain Marvel gay? Does she fall in love with Valkyrie?
So why do fans think Captain Marvel is lesbian? Well first of all, why not? The film never establishes her sexuality, so there is just as much of a chance that she could be gay or queer as there is that she could be straight. Second some fans think that Carol and Maria were more than just friends (they essentially raised a child together!). And thirdly, Brie and Tessa have just encouraged the Valkyrie and Carol theories on social media.
It all started with Brie retweeting an adorable piece of Captain Marvel and Valkyrie fan art. In it, Captain Marvel holds Valkyrie in her arms and they both stare lovingly into each others eyes. Brie shared the photo with the adorable comment: "We cute @TessaThompson_x". Tessa then joined in the shipping by retweeting the photo with the comment: "WHAT. we so cute".
Tessa also commented "hot" underneath one of Brie's recent Captain Marvel photos on Instagram.

brie has literally said that maria is carol’s great love, she’s retweeted carol/valkyrie fan art, she’s talked about the lack of any sexual/romantic rships with men in captain marvel and y’all still think carol danvers ISN’T a lesbian???

Amazing, right? Of course, they could both just be appreciating the incredible fan art but perhaps they are hinting at a future romance in the Marvel universe. Tessa has already confirmed that Valkyrie is bisexual and, given that they are both legendary members of the MCU, they would definitely make for an iconic couple. Plus it's about time Marvel gave us its own LGBTQ+ romance.

There are also theories that a Thor and Captain Marvel romance could be on the horizon but a Captain Marvel and Valkyrie romance would be so much more groundbreaking for the MCU. Plus, not only do we ship Captain Marvel and Valkyrie but Tessa and Brie do too. We have decided to ship forever.
