Dylan And Cole Sprouse Auditioned For 'School Of Rock' But It Was A DISASTER

They were very young actors at the time and it sounds like the whole thing did NOT go well.
If you grew up in the 2000s, Suite Life of Zack and Cody was probably your show. Cole and Dylan Sprouse made a name for themselves on the hit Disney Channel sitcom, but did you know the twins could have starred in School Of Rock even before their career defining Disney Channel roles?
In an interview with MTV, Dylan Sprouse explained that he and his brother both went out for roles in School of Rock, but that his audition was a complete disaster.
"I must have been having a bad day," Dylan said, of his botched audition. The actor, who would have been 10 or 11 at the time, was told to prepare a song to sing at the audition. Sounds simple, right?
When it came time to sing, Dylan was defiant and told the people in charge of casting that he "didn't really feel like singing". Dylan even declined an offer to sing "happy birthday" to lieu of a prepared audition song. Clearly, the folks in charge weren't terribly pleased.

Dylan apparently did not get a call back for School of Rock. Cole, however, performed a rap song and was invited back to continue the audition process. Since neither brother appears in the film, we have to assume something else didn't click for the Riverdale star.
Don't feel too bad for Dylan and Cole, though. A year after the film was released in theaters, the twins' new show was already on the Disney Channel. We're guessing Dylan didn't have to do any singing for that particular audition.
A few years later, Dylan apparently got over his aversion to singing because he was able to show off those pipes during an episode of Suite Life On Deck.
If you were surprised that Cole Sprouse wasn't willing to sing his heart out for Riverdale's musical episode, "A Night To Remember", now you know that Dylan and Cole's disdain for singing actually goes way back!
