Elizabeth Kloepfer reveals how she feels about the Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked

The real Elizabeth Kloepfer has opened up about Netflix's Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
One of Ted Bundy's survivors has spoken out about Zac Efron's controversial film
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is a new, true-crime thriller about the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy. It stars Zac Efron as Ted and is told from the perspective of his former girlfriend Liz (Elizabeth Kloepfer), who is played by Lily Collins. As it stands, the film has divided viewers. Some believe that it romanticises Ted, while others think that it truthfully depicts how Ted charmed his victims. Now Elizabeth and her daughter Molly have revealed what they think about the movie.
Speaking about what Elizabeth and Molly think with Vanity Fair, director Joe Berlinger said: "They have both had a hard time processing this. It took a lot of trust for them to meet with us." He added: "They still haven’t seen the film and don’t want to see the film and don’t want to do press for the film. Elizabeth still has a hard time with it. But I think she is happy we made the film and happy with Lily portraying her.... It is still a painful experience."
Lily Collins also talked about meeting Elizabeth on This Morning: "I went and met the woman that I play. It was really helpful. She was so gracious, giving me material to look at and speaking to me. I don’t know if she’s going to see the film because it’s difficult, but within the filming process, she came on set and she was a positive light on-set. You wouldn’t expect that with what happened. She gave us her support. She’s really lovely.”
The film is heavily based on Elizabeth Kloepfer's own memoir The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy which she wrote under her pseudonym Elizabeth Kendall in 1981. It details her meeting Ted, marrying him, finding out that he is a serial killer and then divorcing him and and raising her daughter Molly. Given what they've been through, it's understandable that they have no intention of seeing Extremely Wicked.
That being said, it's refreshing to see how involved Elizabeth and Molly were behind the scenes of the movie. Just recently, Gypsy Rose Blanchard criticised the creators of Hulu's The Act for profiting off of her story without their consent.
