People Are FURIOUS About Johnny Depp Still Being In "Fantastic Beasts 2"

"It really isn’t too late to replace Johnny Depp, guys."
In case you missed it, Fantastic Beasts 2 finally got an official release date and subtitle yesterday. The Crimes Of Grindelwald will be hitting our screens on November 16th 2018.
Warner Bros. also released an official cast portrait featuring all the characters from the second instalment of the franchise and my GOD, everyone looks spectacular. (It's official, young Dumbledore is hot AF.)
But people aren't too thrilled about the inclusion of a certain person in that portrait. And he goes by the name of Johnny Depp.
Fans are still expressing their disappointment over his casting in light of the accusations made against him regarding domestic abuse toward then-wife Amber Heard. (Depp was never charged and the issue was settled after a court battle. He was also cast in the film before allegations were made.)
Some believe that his inclusion in the film sort of goes against everything the Harry Potter universe stands for.
If Ridley Scott can fire Kevin Spacey, after filming an entire movie with him and voluntarily reshooting it a month before release, then y'all can do the same thing w Johnny Depp bc you still have a year to go #FantasticBeasts pic.twitter.com/yaK93VMgc1

It really isn’t too late to replace Johnny Depp, guys. https://t.co/yE7ltZLI9L

I remember seeing the Grindelwald reveal in the cinema and wishing another actor was playing him anyway. People are being held accountable in Hollywood for sexual assault (rightly so), but Johnny Depp isn’t being held accountable for other abuse? 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/9FPcFNH9FI

The Crimes of Grindelwald is a pretty ballsy title for a film failing to address the problematic assault charges of its biggest star...like...way to lean in?

So many abuse victims have turned to Harry Potter as a source of comfort and healing. The Crimes of Grindelwald shows how little the creators of this franchise care about its fandom, and I'm over it. #FantasticBeasts

Others are calling out the studio for making Grindelwald look like a gimmicky pantomime villain...
recast grindelwald for christ sake

1. depp's an abuser
2. he doesn't fit that role AT ALL he looks terrible as grindelwald, i can't seem to find him credible. colin farrell had done an amazing job, bring him back or cast someone else but just get johnny depp out of this
Even if I try forget how much I dislike Johnny Depp... isn’t Grindelwald handsome and charismatic? He looks like a caricature of a villain. I’m still not watching this though.

depp looks nothing like grindelwald he can’t play it right

Fantastic Beasts 2 looks cool, but Johnny Depp should be recast (not because of the allegations, but because he just doesn't freaking look like Grindelwald)

OKAY... whoever tf was in charge of casting grindelwald really did us all dirty he looks AWFUL here https://t.co/0BngoSM6n8

Others are just really pissed off that Colin Farrell - who really stole the damn show in Fantastic Beasts - won't be able to reprise his role in the second movie.
The real crime of Grindelwald is taking Colin Farrell away from us in favor of Johnny Depp.
— Rebecca Pahle (@RebeccaPahle) November 16, 2017
Thing is, Colin even could pull off the already established look for Grindelwald in the movie universe. He looks like if that Grindelwald was cleaned up. But nope, we get Blondie Depp.
— Daniel (@BKrepke) November 16, 2017
You could have just had Colin Farrell be like "By the way, I'm actually Grindelwald." Like Grindelwald had no established look then. YOU COULD JUST HAVE COLIN FARRELL BE GRINDELWALD.

I'M GOING TO HAVE TO SIT IN THE THEATRE FOR 2+ HOURS AND TORTURE MY EYES TO WATCH THIS TOOTHBRUSH HEAD LOOKING MF PLAY GRINDELWALD WHEN WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN COLIN FARRELL IN MORE FITTED SUITS. WARNER BROS SCAMMED ME pic.twitter.com/ssQL5rOoXR

Who knows... maybe Depp will manage to give us the performance we all deserve...? Orrrrrrr, maybe not. At least we've got hot Dumbledore, Zoe Kravitz, Ezra Miller minus that dodgy haircut and the memory of Colin Farrell waving his ~wand~ about, right?
