WARNING: GAME OF THRONES, SEASON 8, EPISODE 1 SPOILERS BELOW

Kit Harington nearly lost one of his testicles while filming a Jon Snow scene for Game of Thrones season 8.

Game of Thrones is back with its final season and it's already off to an iconic start. Not only did season 8, episode 1, see the Starks reunite with Jon Snow but it also saw Danerys enter Winterfell for the first time, Sansa drag everyone for filth and Jon find out that he is really the heir to the Iron Throne. Oh, and over 17.4 million people watched it in the US alone. The episode came at a cost though. Kit almost crushed one of his balls making it.

How did Kit Harington almost lose a testicle?

In a new behind the scenes Game of Thrones featurette for HBO, Kit opens up about how he filmed the scenes of Jon Snow riding a dragon for the first time. All the dragon scenes in Game of Thrones are filmed on a mechanical buck next to a green screen. The scenes are then edited with special effects to make it look as though Jon Snow and Danerys are actually both riding dragons in real life.

Discussing the scene, Kit said: "Buck work is not easy." He explained: "I think what sums up the buck for me was there was a bit where Jon almost falls off." He then revealed all about the dramatic testicle incident, explaining: "The dragon swings around really violently, like this, and my right ball got trapped, and I didn’t have time to say ‘Stop!’ And I was being swung around."

Kit finished the hilarious but also lowkey terrifying anecdote saying: "In my head, I thought: this is how it ends, on this buck, swinging me around by my testicles, literally." He then quipped: "Sorry. Probably too much information.”

While this is a LOT of information, we're very grateful that Kit has shared this important news with us. We're also happy that his balls are still entact. Here's hoping that they didn't receive any more trauma on set.
