Draco Malfoy fans have only just realised how little their favourite character appeared in the Harry Potter movies.

Harry Potter fans assemble. We have some news that may shock and upset you and it concerns Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton).

It's no secret that Draco Malfoy is one of Harry Potter's most loved characters. He may be Harry's nemesis at the start of the series, and often times a villain, but he demonstrates huge growth across all seven books and eight movies. Not to mention, fans can't get enough of Tom Felton and how well he plays Draco in the films. Nothing but respect for our Slytherin king!

However, in spite of playing one of Harry Potter's most important roles, Draco has barely any screen time in the movies and fans have only just realised. In the entire franchise Tom Felton only appears as Draco Malfoy on screen for 31 minutes.

Last week (Oct 5), a Harry Potter fan tweeted: "the fact Draco Malfoy was only in 31 minutes throughout the WHOLE of the Harry Potter franchise (19 hrs & 40 mins) jus doesn’t sit right with me" and it quickly went viral. Sure enough, she's correct. According to IMDB, Draco appears for 31 minutes and 30 seconds, ranking just above Ginny Weasley and Professor McGonagall.

In comparison, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) is on screen for a total of 9 hours of the entire length of the movies and Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) both appear for 3 and half hours each respectively. The only other characters to rank above Draco are Dumbledore (77 minutes), Hagrid (45 minutes), Snape (43 minutes) and Voldemort (37 minutes).

Naturally, Draco fans can't believe it. One person tweeted: "Tom Felton also had to dye his hair for 10 years, to only end up with 30 minutes of screen time. He and Draco deserved better." Another fan quipped: "The rest of the time he was living in Harry's head rent free." Meanwhile, a person wrote: "I feel like Draco deserves his own film/spin-off".

Still, not everyone cares for Draco. Someone added: "it sits just fine with me fuck that guy!" One person also wrote: "When are you guys going to accept that he’s a side character."

It looks like the Draco haters are in the minority though. The initial tweet criticising his lack of screen time has racked up over 423,000 likes.

What do you think? Did Draco deserve more screen time?
