James' car was caught being towed by a bigger truck while he was filming with Justin Bieber.

On Thursday (23 Jan), the internet discovered some truly shocking news. Carpool Karaoke is not as it seems, in fact, it's fake. The popular segment from The Late Late Show With James Corden sees James pick up a celebrity "on his way to work", before driving them around Los Angeles and singing to their favourite hits.

The truth was exposed when someone shared a video on Twitter that showed the Carpool Karaoke segment being filmed (Apparently, Justin Bieber was in the car at the time…) In the clip, we see the car James drives being towed by a bigger truck in front of it. James' car also has tiny little wheels attached to its tyres.

Of course, we all know James doesn't just happen to bump into celebrities on his way to work. But we often see James stopping at traffic lights and interacting with pedestrians. Like, everyone thought he was actually driving, right?

Anyway, the internet felt hoodwinked and bamboozled by the viral video.

Come to think of it, um, how did we not notice before...?

However, fear not. Apparently, James does actually drive the car… sometimes. Ben Winston, a Late Late Show producer, issued a response to the backlash on Twitter.

"Not true! We only use a rig when we are doing a "stunt" as part of the Carpool – when it would be impossible for James to drive!" he tweeted in response to a Buzzfeed article. "This has occurred only maybe 4 times in 50 or so carpools... Safety is key!"

Phew, maybe our whole lives aren't a lie then.
