Kenny Ortega also said that he doesn't think they need to physicalise Julie and Luke's relationship in the show.

Madison Reyes has opened up about Julie and the Phantoms season 2 and what fans can expect to see for Julie and Luke.

As soon as Julie and the Phantoms came out on Netflix this month, fans immediately started shipping Julie (Madison Reyes) and Luke (Charlie Gillespie). Not only do the characters have instant chemistry but they also share many romantic moments in season 1. Luke may be a ghost but 'Perfect Harmony' alone proves that Julie is more suited to Luke than she is to Nick.

Now, Madison has teased the future of Julie and Luke's relationship in a new interview and she's appeared to confirm that kissing is off-limits, following concern from fans over the age difference between her and Charlie Gillespie in real life.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight, if Julie and Luke will kiss in season 2, Madison said: "No. I don't really think so. Well that's what I like about their relationship so much. it's a deep connection. I'm just excited to see that connection that they have with each other grow. I think we should show that you don't need to just fall for any guy that you like. You can take your time. We still don't know if they're just gonna stay here or how much longer they still have on the Earth."

Director Kenny Ortega then agreed with Julie. He explained: "We're rooting for that. The choices that we have made work. There's still a long way that we can go in building their chemistry and connection with one another. I think, agreeing with Madison, there's so much we can show without having to physicalise it. That's the beauty of them."

While Julie and Luke are 15 and 17 respectively, Madison and Charlie are 16 and 21 and many fans have taken to social media to state that they are their against them kissing each other on screen because of the age difference.

One fan wrote: "if kenny ortega waited until hsm 3 for troy and gabriella to kiss he can also wait for julie and luke (julie’s actress is still a minor) to kiss bc if not that would be rly weird honestly and uncomfortable."

In the past teen series have faced backlash for getting stars with huge age differences to kiss on screen. In 2018, Everything Sucks! featured a scene in which Peyton Kennedy (14) and Sydney Sweeney (20) kiss and fans were quick to call it out.

Thankfully given Madison and Kenny's comments, it seems like Julie and the Phantoms fans needn't worry about any Julie and Luke kissing scenes in season 2.
