"Did the Emmys audience just laugh at Kim Kardashian? I don't think she was telling a joke."

Ahhh, the Emmys. A celebration of television's finest offerings over the last year. An evening where TV's most revered actors, directors, writers, hosts and personalities come together and bask in their own iconic-ness. Another night where the voters ignore Amy Adams' outstanding talent.

This year's awards ceremony took place last night (Sept 22). Game of Thrones won multiple Emmys for their final season, Billy Porter became the first openly gay black man to win the award for Lead Actor in a Drama and um, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were seemingly laughed at when they presented an award.

Yeah... awkward.

Kim and Kendall, stars of the long running reality show juggernaut Keeping Up With The Kardashians (you may have heard of it?), took to the stage to present the award for Outstanding Competition Series.

Reading what was written on the teleprompter, Kim said "Our family knows first-hand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves, telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted."

Just before Kendall could get a word in, the audience started laughing presumably because they thought Kim was telling a self-depreciating joke because it is a known fact that KUWTK is infamous for orchestrating certain sets up and narratives.

But were they in on the joke? Surely Kim knew what she was doing and what she was saying, right? Judging by Kendall's expression, it absolutely did not seem like a joke which made the laughter even more absolutely brutal.

Kendall looked a little startled by the laughing and glanced up at the screen after she'd finished her line, wondering what the f*ck was going on and why everyone was making so much noise.

The audience, both at the ceremony and at home, clocked how awkward the whole thing was too.

And if you listen closely, you can also hear Kris Jenner cackling at home in Calabasas while counting her gold doubloons and signing the contract for another 10 seasons of the show. Don't hate the players, hate the game, baby. Bye.
