Nothing can stop Kim Kardashian from having her fashion moment – even the birth of her own child.

We know the annual Met Gala is one of the biggest night's in the fashion world – but would you really miss the birth of your child for it? Well… Kim Kardashian would. Kim revealed that she almost missed the birth of her fourth child Psalm because she had already "committed" to the Met Gala.

Basically, in May 2019 Kim scored her first solo US Vogue cover, which of course is a pretty big deal. Traditionally, the May cover star would attend the Met Gala as guest of honour, which happens on the first Monday in May every year.

Kim, who has been attending the Met Gala for several years now, started preparing for the big night months in advance, even taking breathing lessons to slip into her tight Thierry Mugler corset. But, there was just one problem – Kim's son was expected around the same time via surrogate.

With the Met Gala taking place in New York City and Kim's surrogate being back home in California, it's not like Kim could have nipped home if her surrogate went into labour. So, of course, Kim did what she had to do – she went to the Met instead.

On Sunday night's (13 Oct) episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim decided she would take the risk of missing her son's birth because of all the work she'd put into her Met Gala look.

"I just have to get to the Met and back before the baby comes," she said. "[The surrogate] is due in eight days, but I’m gonna stay committed to the Met. I mean, it has taken eight months to get our Met look perfect, and I committed to it and I can’t miss this."

Knowing she was cutting it fine, Kim had to put a plan in place for her sister Khloe Kardashian to step in during the birth because she was attending the Met Gala with her husband Kanye West, mother Kris Jenner and younger sisters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner.

"My attorney has my sister's number," Kim told her surrogate whilst in the doctor's office. "Because I'm gonna be with two of my sisters, and my mom and my husband. Khloé is hoping that this will happen while I'm gone because she wants the baby."

Thankfully, Kim didn't miss the birth and she had the opportunity to impress on the Met Gala red carpet. Kim and Kanye flew back to Cali soon after the event on 3 May, and their son Psalm was born six days later on 9 May – phew.
