Filming for Songbird is already underway and it will also star Demi Moore and Jenna Ortega.

A new thriller movie inspired by the coronavirus pandemic is currently in production and it will star KJ Apa and Sofia Carson.

With lockdown measures easing down in many parts of the world, filming on movies and series is beginning to resume again and many new projects are coming into fruition. However, what people may not have expected, is that Hollywood is already using the coronavirus pandemic as inspiration for upcoming cinema. It looks like coronavirus films are about to be a thing.

KJ Apa and Sofia Carson have been cast as leads in a new thriller based on the coronavirus pandemic called Songbird.

Deadline reports that filming for Songbird is currently underway and it will be directed and produced by Adam Goodman and Michael Bay. Production for the project commenced last Wednesday (Jul 8) in Los Angeles. The movie is set to take place "two years into the future, as a lockdown has been re-implemented after a more serious virus continues to mutate."

According to Deadline, KJ will play a delivery man who is separated from his girlfriend (Sofia) under the lockdown measures. The story will follow him as he tries to "overcome martial law, murderous vigilantes and a powerful, well-connected family, helmed by a matriarch (Demi Moore)", to reunite with his girlfriend. YOU's Jenna Ortega will also act in the film.
