The 'Lizzie McGuire' revival starring Hilary Duff has stopped filming after showrunner Terri Minsky bowed out.

We've literally all been dreaming about Lizzie McGuire returning to our screens ever since it went off air in 2004 – and in 2019 we finally got our wish. Hilary Duff even reprised her role as the much-loved teen and the reboot was set to be streamed exclusively on Disney+.

Of course, Lizzie stans were super excited for the show – which ended after two seasons – to return. The reboot was meant to follow Lizzie, now a 30-year-old mum-of-two, navigating life.

The movie spin-off, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, left off with Lizzie kissing her best friend Gordo (Adam Lamberg) and everyone is just dying to know whether or not they end up together now that Lizzie is all grown up.

Well, we're not getting our dream, sadly... well, not just yet. Terri Minsky, the creator of the original series, has quit just two episodes in, Variety reports. In a statement, Disney said: "Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series.

"After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series."

Needless to say, the news isn't going down well.

At the moment, production on the show has halted while a replacement for Terri is found. Who knows how long we'll have to wait until Disney appoints a worthy replacement, but we'll update you as soon as the news comes in.
